How to pick a niche market.
First of all, what is a niche, and what is a niche market? And, how to pick a niche market?
Basically a niche is an interest that you have about a certain topic.
Such as,
A love of dogs, horses, cats. Or it could be a hobby or sport.
It could be about cooking or recipes. I read once about a well-known blogger that has a cooking blog that makes over 3 million a year. WOW
Gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing are niches. So are relationships, camping, and scuba diving.
Just make sure it is something you are passionate about, and can write about.
Are you having trouble finding a niche?
This is probably one of the hardest things when you are just starting out. First, understanding what a niche is and then finding one suitable for you to get started on to building a successful website.
Here’s a good example
Both of my sons have 2 sons each. When they were the right age they wanted to play baseball. So, both of my sons became little league coaches and had a wonderful time working with all the kids on their teams. They were very passionate about working with their young players and helping them to develop many skills.
If they were in affiliate marketing, that would be a great niche.
They could promote coaching programs on Clickbank, baseball equipment on Amazon and other sports stores, uniforms, equipment like bats, baseballs, so many items related to little league baseball.
So put your thinking cap on and come up with different things that interest you.
If you are having trouble narrowing your list down, try this exercise.
Lists
Make a list of some of your interests:
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Do you have any hobbies?
What do you research on the internet?
What do you like to read about?
What magazines do you like?
What do you watch on T V?
That will give you a good overview of your interests.
Can you solve peoples’ problems?
Do you think you can help someone solve their specific problem or problems?
Can you solve their problems with your knowledge and expertise about a certain topic?
Are you a parent or grandparent?
There are 47,647 different baby items on Amazon to promote.
Check that out.
Is golfing your thing? Amazon has 33,000 pieces of golf related items. That’s plenty of food for thought. Not even including what’s available on Clickbank for digital products, such as improving your swing.
Is it profitable?
When you think you have narrowed down your selection to 1 or 2, you need to verify if it is a profitable one. You don’t need to invest a lot of time on a website, to find out that topic is not a money maker.
By using affiliate networks like Amazon, CJ Junction, or Clickbank, you can track and make notes of the best-selling products in the niches you were interested in.
Also, research other businesses in the same niche and see if they are profitable.
Also, if you can, see how they are promoting their products. By funnels, email marketing, social media etc.
The next step to consider,
Is it a popular niche? You don’t want to put a lot of effort into developing a website if no one visits it.
So, use a keyword tool like Google Trends and Jaaxy Enterprise.
Google trends will let you know what are the top rising trends within a certain niche. Jaaxy will tell you how often that keyword ranks in one month. Both are good indicators of popularity and eventually sales, which is the goal here.
Search forums related to the niche you are aiming for. That can give you even more important information about that specific niche.
Use forums
Hers a list of Forums;
- Twitch
- Quora
- Github
- Imgur
- Stack Overflow
- Discord
- Steam
- Medium
- Archive of our own
That is a partial list, I’m sure there are many more.
Clickbank
Go back to Clickbank and see how many products are being offered in that niche. If your search turns up many products, that means many people are searching for solutions to their problems. So it could be a very lucrative niche to get involved in. Plus, Clickbank has great training to get you familiar with using their platform.
Health, relationships and make money online are the most popular niches but there are many other niches that can be very lucrative also. So, put your think cap on and find something that really interests you and go for it.
Well, you have done your homework and you have decided on a niche. Now, you can go out and create a website and your very own business. Good Luck to you.
Just think, make money when you are sleeping , on vacation, 24-7. That is the power of the internet and affiliate marketing. Plus, you are not responsible for collecting the money or returns. You are just helping people find what they want or need.

It takes a while to get your website up and running. You need to write a lot of good articles before you will be noticed by Google but, it interesting to do, you are your own boss and you can work from anywhere you have a internet connection.
