How to Find A Niche

Are you having trouble finding a niche? 

This is probably  one of the hardest things when you are just starting out. First understanding what a niche is and then finding one suitable for you to get started on a successful website.

What interests you?

First you must find something you are passionate about.

Are you a golfer, do you like gardening, do you coach little league baseball or football?

Are you an avid swimmer? Do you like to go camping? Do you like cooking or baking?

Do you have small children or babies? Lots of products there.

Find something that interest you, because you will be writing many articles about it.

How to find a niche

Do some brainstorming, go to Amazon and search their magazine category. Amazon has a total of 1,381,388 different magazines.

• Golf
• Skiing
• Diet
• Exercise
• Home Decorating
• Lawn care
• Cooking or baking
• Knitting
• Sewing

That’s just a sample of magazines available.

When you start searching you will be surprised at how many large categories there are and also how many smaller categories there are.

What is advertised on TV?

Skincare products.

Haircare products

Exercise equipment

Medicines to cure all your problems.

Diet supplements and vitamins are very popular.

Pans that are easy to cook with.

Even marijuana is now available to the consumer.

The list goes on and on.

And, don’t forget our furry friends, that is a huge niche, just narrow it down.

If you like dogs , that is a very popular niche. Just pick your favorite and get started. You can search Clickbank for training programs and also Amazon or Walmart. Just to name a few.

Browse through some of them to find different topics. If they are publishing magazines about a topic, there must be interested readers.

Those are the people you want to target.

Check on Google for ideas to help refine your niche.

Go to dmoz.com or type in a niche you are thinking about and add a+ affiliate and you can get many ideas for a niche.

Myself, I like to cook and bake. I might start a site on that and then I can incorporate specialty pans and cookware, stand and portable mixers, blenders etc. Even Microwaves,  toaster ovens, crockpots, cast iron frypans, today there is a very large variety of all different types of cookware.  the sky’s the limit.etc.

Are you a parent or a grandparent? Check out baby products or the safety of different types of baby equipment.

Again, at Amazon there were 47,647 different baby items.

After you find something that you want to write about, than narrow the niche down to something very specific.

I know someone who started a niche website on “Football Snack Helmets”. He used it for a case study. The last I heard it was earning $300.00 a day.

Say you are interested in golf, narrow your niche down to “how to improve your swing” or promote a specific type of golf club.  You can find digital products at Clickbank to promote about golfing swings and all kinds of golf equipment at Amazon to promote.

In fact I checked Amazon, and they have over 33,000 different pieces of golf equipment to promote.

Dieting or weight loss! That is a huge niche. You, definitely need to narrow that down. Exercise equipment, juicing machines, exercise clothing and mats, very popular niches.

Use your imagination to help you get started. Plus, it’s not locked in stone at this point. You will need to zero in when you want to pick a domain name to start your website.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Check out Amazon and click the left hand column and this will show all the different departments (or as we would say) niches. Pick an interesting category and click on it. Then you will see a whole list of sub categories’ will come up. This will show you all the sub-niches. When you do this, you will be getting very specific in your search. Hopefully this will give you plenty of ideas.

Go to Google Trends.

Here you can see if what category that you are interested in. Is it getting attention and traffic?

Check out Clickbank. This affiliate program deals in digital products. digital products are very popular, for their instant gratification.

The most popular categories are Wealth, Health and Relationships. I’m sure you will find something suitable for you to get started.

Don’t let yourself get stuck at this part of your journey. If something doesn’t seem good move on to another category.

There are so many categories that the sky is the limit. If it is an interest that your have, be sure you are able to write articles about it. Because you will be writing a lot of articles about this topic and related topics. It may seem overwhelming at first, but you will soon understand what this is all about.

Just make sure your niche will be profitable. If you start a website that no one is interested in, it will be next to impossible to make any money from that niche.
